Where does my funding go?

If successful, the money will be used not only to set up a website, pay for the first years website hosting fees, purchase packing materials and more but to enable the first box and its contents to be created.

Anything over will go to ensuring this business can continue and expand. With options for genre focused boxes, and celebrations of all this UK YA.

 Who’s behind Paper Orange?

I’m Charley, the orange wearing, book obsessed individual behind the first ever #UKYAAuthorWeek2021 named by some as the Queen of Y.A.

I am passionate about Y.A, getting books into the hands of readers and connecting those authors and their readers. I created UK Y.A Author Week to give a platform to UK writers who may otherwise be overlooked.

“UK YA fiction really struggles for airtime, so it’s amazing to come across a bookseller like Charley who is not only passionate about the books she enjoys but is also brilliant at communicating that passion to readers. Just before Christmas, Charley single-handedly organised a UKYA author week, as part of which she interviewed us about our books. The event was an excellent platform for us and other authors to reach new readers. As well as the author week, Charley makes regular use of social media (including launching her own YouTube channel) to review books she enjoys, helping authors widen their readership and helping readers discover new books to fall in love with. – Elisabeth Corr & Katharine Corr Authors of  A Throne Of Swans (Hot Key Books), A Crown Of Talons (Hot Key Books, January 2021) and The Witch’s KissTrilogy (HarperCollins)

“I always knew booksellers were a little bit magic, with the power to tell what kind of story someone will like from a short conversation, or sometimes even a look. But Charley Robinson is a special kind of magic. Her passion for books and reading shines through to customers, authors and everyone who works with her.

Charley single-handedly organised UKYA Author Week, an online event, a series of online interviews and panel discussions which included 30 diverse writers, and which started conversations about young adult literature across the Internet. It was an incredible feat, and done alongside her bookselling day job. She champions the books she loves, regardless of how well-marketed they are, or how high-profile the author. And she is also an irrepressible character whose tweets, Instagram posts and YouTube videos always put a smile on my face and make me wish I lived in Brigg! I feel she’s a sure-fire winner for the Individual Bookseller of the Year award.” – Andreina Cordani – Author of Dead Lucky and The Girl Who.
